John Lucas III: One day, KG was like, "Yo, come to my house. We’re going to watch the fight." You know, he’s my teammate, so I was like, "All right, cool." At the time, his wife, Brandy, picked me up and said, "Yo, where’s your stuff?" I was confused. "Huh? I thought I was just going to watch the fight." She said, "No, KG said you’re moving in with us." I remember saying, "What?" I went upstairs and packed my bags real quick. KG’s house was unbelievable. I had the whole guest house to myself. His best friends, Tou and Chi Bip, were there. The guest house was called "The Bip’s Estate" because that’s where his family stayed when they visited. At the time, I didn’t have a car. KG had just bought his wife a brand-new cherry-colored CLS Mercedes-Benz, but she hated the color. He had so much money, he just threw me the keys and said, "Yo, this is your car, young fella."

John Lucas III: The next morning, I woke up, and they made a trade. I was walking into the facility, getting ready for the first day of official practice. That’s when I found out they traded for Ronald Dupree from the Pistons. Kevin McHale pulled me into his office and told me they had to cut me. KG was furious. He threw a fit. That moment marked the beginning of KG’s fallout with Minnesota. KG told me, "You ain’t going nowhere, Lord. You ain’t going nowhere like that." He kept me in Minnesota for two weeks while they tried to figure things out. My dad, though, called me and said, "Man, bring your ass home."
