Jeff Teague had the same reaction that probably every person on the planet had upon hearing Monta Ellis’ claim. Ellis, the former high-scoring Golden State Warriors guard, controversially declared on Sunday that the Warriors would’ve had the same success had he replaced Steph Curry. Teague, Ellis’ teammate with the Indiana Pacers in 2016-2017 wasn’t exactly buying it. “Imma keep it real with you. He was never better than Steph Curry,” Teague said during a live recording of “The Club 520 Podcast” before saying there was another star guard who he could have seen perhaps replicating the Warriors’ success with Curry. “…If you said ‘We’re going to take Steph Curry out of there, and put Dame Lillard, then I would be like ‘Okay I could see them get the same results.”

Obviously, I watch clips of All the Smoke, Knuckleheads… I’ve seen those clips, but I’m not really a podcast listener.”

NBA Courtside: Jeff Teague says Detroit needs to trade for Kevin Durant: “They desperate for another scorer and Kevin Durant is still playing at a high level, that would take so much pressure off Cade and so much pressure off Kevin Durant to do everything. I think it would be an easy fit.”
Averaging 28.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists, he has carried the team on his back and has been an exemplary leader on and off the court. However, what stands out the most to Teague is not just his numbers but how he goes about things. “I like it because he does things his own way. He’s not the typical NBA guy, for sure,” Teague stated. “He doesn’t do what most NBA players do. Teague said Brown should be getting a lot of shine, especially since he’s in a major market like Boston. However, his individuality is contributing to his lack of recognition. “Jaylen Brown is in Boston, which is a premier basketball market. He should be one of the faces of the league. But because he does everything his own way, people barely talk about him. And honestly, that makes me respect him even more,” Teague commented.
