Luka Donkicks: After defeating the Mavs in Thursday night’s game, the Lakers flew back home. However, Luka Dončić did not. Less than 24 hours after an emotionally draining, yet spectacular performance, Dončić stayed in Dallas to host local youth basketball players and fans at a Luka 4 sneaker release event at DICK’S Sporting Goods. During the event, Dončić answered questions, met with local area youth basketball teams, and even checked out a few lucky fans’ Luka 4 purchases at the register. He could have said no. He could have said he was too tired. He could have done the event in LA… He showed up. Big character and culture move 🔥📈

Courtside’s first fund came together in 2016, with Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert serving as one of two initial anchor investors. This time around, limited partners also include the ownership groups of the Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets and Monumental Sports. Larry Fitzgerald and Shaquille O’Neal are among the individual investors, while Dicks Sporting Goods is one of the public corporations to have invested in Fund III.
Barkley has three years and $30 million remaining on his TNT deal. Besides the $10 million a year he makes from TNT, he said on “The Dan Patrick Show” last week that he makes another $10 million in endorsements, including Subway, Capital One and Dick’s Sporting Goods. “My No. 1 priority is to be fair to Turner and my sponsors, to be honest with you,” Barkley said. “I couldn’t just keep them holding on so I made up my mind (Thursday) night. I was like, ‘Make a decision and live with it.’”
That might sound like spin. It’s not. Kidd-Gilchrist is an authentic guy with a generous approach to his life and his job. Almost immediately after the then-Bobcats drafted himin 2012, he asked about finding a needy family in Charlotte that he could help sponsor. I’ve seen him at Christmas time paying for underprivileged kids to shop at Dick’s Sporting Goods. He isn’t just writing a check for a photo op, he’s interacting with those kids, teaching them life skills.
