The new CBA will impact the Bulls signing of Sean Kilpatrick in a multitude of ways. For starters, Chicago is still $2M below the minimum salary cap floor. Although Chicago now has $90M counted against the cap, the amount of salary applied to the floor is the amount earned while playing for the Bulls and not the full cap hit. The acquisition of Omer Asik, Noah Vonleh, Willie Reed, Tony Allen and Quincy Pondexter in previous years would have pushed the Bulls above the floor. For trade purposes, only the amount guaranteed (or earned at the time) in 2018-19 and 2019-20 will apply and not the cap hit. For example, if Kilpatrick has a $2M non-guaranteed salary next season, the amount used in a trade will be $0. The Nets will also receive a set-off based on the salary earned with the Bucks, Clippers and Bulls.
KC Johnson: Omer Asik and Jameer Nelson have yet to take physicals and thus won’t address reporters today. Plan is for Lauri Markkanen to meet Bulls in Sacramento, per Hoiberg. Zipser starts vs. Clippers.
