NBA star Kyle Kuzma blasted New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for “cosplaying” as president over his empty threat to arrest Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Milwaukee Bucks forward said online that Mamdani’s video address last week showed he is more concerned with “content” than running America’s biggest city. “This is 2026. People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be. Just for content,” the NBA veteran posted on X Sunday afternoon in response to Mamdani’s clip.

Getting a ring with the Lakers felt like the start of a solid career for Kuzma. But alas, it has gone the opposite direction. Still, he knows what it takes to reach the top. The 31-year-old forward even claimed that the NBA bubble was not difficult, contrary to what several players have stated. “I feel like the bubble was easy though because if you wanted to be there and win, then you were gonna be there longer,” said Kuzma on “The White Noise Podcast.” “Remember that private meeting that we had with all the teams? Everybody was just like, ‘I don’t wanna be here, I don't wanna do this.' So it was like, ‘Okay, bet. Well, we're just gonna stay, band together, and figure it out.'”

He added that the anxiety of being in an enclosed environment had nothing to do with basketball. “We were there for 106 days. No windows, no balconies. That was the worst part. There were like three restaurants. We ate the same thing every day for 106 days,” recalled Kuzma.

And even though he is now a veteran in the league in his own right, he still views James and Rondo from those years as the most influential teammates he’s ever had. “I’d say probably Bron or Rondo,” Kuzma said in an appearance on the White Noise podcast. “[LeBron] got so much money that you just see a certain type of life that is maybe not attainable because not everybody can be a billionaire, but it’s like a North Star to you. Like this guy’s got a lot of motion and there’s other things off the court where it’s like, I actually can do more and you just gotta put your mind to it. “And then Rondo because he’s just so sophisticated, so smart basketball-wise. He’s like a savant, it like made you wanna pick up your acumen. He would call sometimes after a game at like 3 a.m., ‘Yo, what you doing?’ Like ‘I’m in bed.’ He’s like ‘Yo, turn the game on, go to 8:10 in the third quarter. What are you thinking here?’ And that’s like motivating, you know?”

The new CBA was sold as parity, but the first and second apron are starting to function like a hard cap on player value, team continuity, and player movement. That means good players get squeezed, homegrown cores get broken up, fan-favorite teams lose their identity, and the overall product loses some of the nostalgia and continuity that made people fall in love with the NBA in the first place. The owners and the league walk into these meetings with killers that continue to run circles around us time and time again with elite lawyers, economists, cap experts, media strategists, and long term business operators. Players deserve a PA that is just as sharp, just as prepared, and just as aggressive about protecting our upside. Too often, it feels like players are informed after the fact instead of being truly educated and empowered before decisions are made. That cannot continue. The next CBA is a do or die moment for us as players. It's only going to get worse for us. We need transparency, accountability, and a serious re evaluation of who is representing us and how they are representing us. This is not anti parity. This is pro player, fan, and product. The league is strongest when players are valued properly, great teams can stay together, and the people representing us are operating at the same level as the people sitting across the table.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis gone, all eyes turn to holdovers Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma as trade candidates for the Bucks. Turner has always known that if Antetokounmpo was ever traded, he’d be a strong trade candidate, HoopsHype has learned. During his Pacers tenure, Turner was linked to the Hornets, Pelicans, and Lakers in trade rumors at various points. Those teams could all make sense now, and possibly the Celtics. Turner, 30, is still owed $83.55 million, including a player option for the 2028-29 season. Kuzma is on an expiring $20.49 million contract and can help a team with scoring. He shot a career-high 49.2 percent from the field last season.

As part of a looming Giannis deal that is expected to happen this offseason, the Bucks are also exploring possible ways to include both Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis. "The Bucks are also looking to potentially offload Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis’ salaries in a potential Giannis deal, so there are a lot of balls in the air for them," NBA Insider Jake Fischer said in his latest updates for Bleacher Report.
