We could say that it’s definitively over. But, the “all but,” according to league sources, comes from Utah’s desire to retain the top-eight protected 2026 first-round pick it owes the Oklahoma City Thunder. So, there is still a bit of losing business that needs to happen as we continue into the second half of this season.

Yossi Gozlan: Utah trading for Jaren Jackson Jr. eliminates their 2026 cap space, assuming they re-sign Walker Kessler. There isn't an attainable free agent better than Jackson Jr. this summer, so the Jazz use up their cap flexibility in a big move now.

The Memphis Grizzlies are trading former Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz in a significant trade that will involve three future first-round picks heading back to Memphis, a league source confirmed to The Athletic. The picks Memphis is receiving are a 2027 first-rounder (the most favorable between Cleveland, Minnesota and Utah), the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2027 first-rounder (top-four protected) and the Phoenix Suns’ 2031 first-rounder (unprotected), according to the source.

Tony Jones: League sources: Utah’s move for Jaren Jackson Jr will not affect the Jazz’ interest in keeping Walker Kessler long term. The Jazz are doing this envisioning JJJ/Lauri/Kessler frontcourt

Jake Fischer: The Utah Jazz are trading their most favorable 2027 first-round pick (Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah), the Lakers' 2027 first-round pick, and Phoenix's 2031 first-round pick to Memphis, source says, to pry Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Grizzlies.

Sources say there has been some preliminary conversation between the Cavaliers and Hornets about Ball trade constructions that could furnish Charlotte with second-round draft capital and thus enable the Hornets to pair the elder Ball with his younger brother LaMelo. Charlotte, Brooklyn and Utah, according to league sources, are all teams that have been looking to facilitate multi-team trades or take on unwanted salary in exchange for draft pick compensation.

Anthony Slater: Steph Curry and Draymond Green have both been ruled out tonight in the rematch vs the Timberwolves. No Al Horford or De'Anthony Melton either. Warriors finish road trip on Wednesday night in Utah.

Bryson Atkins: Per @BannedMacMahon on ESPN 700: “They (Jazz) are optimistic Walker Kessler will be back in Utah, and they have final say due to his restricted free agency…the word around the league is the Wizards are fairing to make him a significant offer.”

Tom Orsborn: Spurs have upgraded Luke Kornet to questionable for Sunday’s game vs. New Orleans after he missed Thursday’s win at Utah.

Ira Winderman: Davion Mitchell indicates he will be out again tonight in Utah.
