Steve Kerr’s son is the newest member of the Warriors’ NBA coaching staff. Nicholas Kerr is joining the NBA team’s coaching staff after spending the past two seasons as the head coach of the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League. Santa Cruz went 20-14 in each of his two seasons in charge, making the postseason during both campaigns. Before that, Kerr was an assistant coach in Santa Cruz from 2021-23. “Congratulations to Nicholas Kerr for being called up to rejoin the @warriors staff,” the Santa Cruz Warriors account posted on Instagram.

“He played five years of college basketball,” Kerr said. “He’s an old-school rookie. Guys 25 years ago came in ready to play because they played all that college ball and got that foundation under him. That’s Quinten. Then the biggest thing over the last couple months in Santa Cruz is the staff there did a great job of working him defensively. That was our biggest concern at the beginning of the season. Could he guard pick-and-roll? Could he get out on the perimeter? Could he be up to the level of the screen and get back into the paint? You saw that tonight.”
The 6-foot-3 Beekman is an undrafted rookie but has outperformed Hayes in the G League. He’s averaging 18.7 points on 51.5 percent shooting for Santa Cruz, 7.3 assists (ninth in the G League), 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 steals (third in the league). “Yeah, excited to have him,” coach Jordi Fernandez said. “Defensive-minded player; I think he led his conference in steals. A point guard that will help our ball pressure, our activity on defense, playmaking, running the team. So, excited to have him. He’ll get here soon, so we’ll get to work with him soon.”
The Golden State Warriors have assigned forward Gui Santos to the team’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, it was announced today. Santa Cruz will host the South Bay Lakers on Friday at Kaiser Permanente Arena, with tip-off set for 7 p.m.

Not much roster movement or drama is expected for the Warriors come October. They’re still finalizing which young players (ticketed for Santa Cruz) and a possible veteran or two they want to bring into camp. The only extra slice of business to finalize is in regards to their draft pick.
