Qingdao Double Star is on track to build an excellent team next year. Using the Asian spot on Hamed Haddadi the team will sign the last foreign player in forward position and, as we reported three days ago, the main candidate is former Houston Rockets Mike Harris.
Mike Harris will likely join today Puerto Rican team Leones de Ponce. The former Jazz has played in China with Zhejiang averaging 28.7 points, 14.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 9 games. Harris has also played 20 games in the NBA this season scoring 4.2 points per game.
Chinese team Zhejiang announced that they have waived Ivan Johnson and signed Mike Harris. Johnson was averaging 25.8ppg, 10.2rpg and 2apg in CBA in 25 games. Mike Harris has played with the Jazz this season averaging 4.2ppg in 20 games.
Tuesday was the deadline to cut players on nonguaranteed contracts before those deals become fully guaranteed for the season, so the Jazz opted to whittle their maxed-out roster to 14 players. That left Harris looking for a new gig, while point guard Diante Garrett and shooting guard Ian Clark survived the cut. “To his credit, he did everything we asked him to do,” Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. “Great locker room guy, great teammate for the guys. It’s just unfortunate it’s part of the business that we had to make a decision.”

Mike Harris is still with the Jazz after seeing every other roster hopeful with a non-guaranteed contract cut, and Corbin doesn’t want Harris playing scared. "Until something change, you’re with us and you should approach it that way," he said. "You can’t keep looking over your shoulder. ‘What’s going to happen?’ What’s going to happen?’ You just play."
The Wolves, as expected, waived training-camp invitees center Chris Johnson and forward Mike Harris by today's deadline to set their season-opening roster. That gets them down to the maximum 15 players, and it means former D Leaguer Will Conroy will start the season with the team as an extra point guard. The Wolves have 14 players with guaranteed contracts, so all 14 were certain to make the final roster.

The Wolves must submit their final roster by Saturday. They will cut training-camp invitees Chris Johnson and Mike Harris to get to the 15-man maximum. They also will extend the rookie contracts of Rubio and Williams by picking up options for the 2013-14 season on Wednesday, the deadline to do so.

Soon thereafter, the NBDL was rebranded as the NBA Development League or, simply, the D-League. Stern moved the D-League's offices to New York and streamlined the operations between the two circuits. Before long, the D-League became a version of the proving ground long envisioned by Stern, with the number of call-ups increasing on an annual basis. "It's been good for me to see guys like [Lou Amundson and Mike Harris] to find their way into the NBA," says Timberwolves player development assistant Shawn Respert, who spent two years working in D-League offices. "I can say their success has come from some of the things we tried to incorporate in the D-League." Last season, a record 44 players found their way from the D-League onto an NBA roster.
The Rockets reached agreement with Marqus Blakely, a 6-5 forward with the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League, on a three-year, non-guaranteed contract, a person with knowledge of the deal said. Blakely, who averaged 15 points on 62.5 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds in the D-League this season with Iowa and Bakersfield, will join the Rockets in Minneapolis for the season's last game. He will replace Mike Harris, whose second 10-day contract has expired, on the Rockets' roster.
Forward Mike Harris will not travel with the Houston Rockets for the final game of the season in Minnesota Wednesday. Harris' second ten-day contract with the Rockets expired Monday after the loss to the Dallas Mavericks. He chose not to sign another contract with Houston. "Mike appreciated the opportunity as always," said Tony Dutt, Harris' agent, in an interview with FOX 26 Sports.
