The Jazz have upgraded Ace Bailey (left hip flexor strain) and Jusuf Nurkic (left 1st MTP sprain) to available for Monday’s game against Cleveland.

Andy Larsen: Will Hardy on Ace Bailey’s hip injury: “Yeah, it's still day to day. You know, he felt like he could go in OKC, and then after his first two shifts, we didn't love how he looked moving, he didn't love how he felt, and so we don't want to put him in a position that hurts him.”

Andy Larsen: Ace Bailey and Jusuf Nurkic are questionable for tonight’s game against Dallas.

Ace Bailey left the Utah Jazz's 131-129 win over the Detroit Pistons in the first half with a left hip strain and did not return to the game. Bailey was scoreless in his 11 minutes against the Pistons. The rookie guard had reached double figures in four straight games for the Jazz.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Young Man & The Three, the rookie explained how quickly accountability arrived at the professional level. “Will took me out in the first five minutes. I wasn’t playing defense. I was like wow. You don’t play defense you can’t play at all.” Bailey added that the moment came against one of the league’s most established scorers during an early-season matchup with Phoenix. “I was guarding D-Book. It was Phoenix. First game vs. D-Book. That was my first time vs. him. Me watching film, I’m thinking film was enough. I should’ve been preparing the night before that. I mean it’s D-Book so it's just like me coming in, not knowing the physicality of the game. It’s different.”
Los Angeles Lakers center Deandre Ayton left Sunday night's 108-106 win against the Utah Jazz midway through the second quarter because of a right knee contusion. The injury occurred when Utah rookie Ace Bailey collided with Ayton's knee in the first quarter. "He had gotten hit on his leg in the first half and was kind of limping through it," Lakers coach JJ Redick said. "And then couldn't go in the second half."

As for the NBA and other sports, Ford still carves out some time to follow them. People on the outside remember his stint at ESPN, some asking him questions, seeking his opinions about this issue or that player, on how he feels about what the Jazz are doing. His response? “I tell them, ‘Ace Bailey’s performance won’t save your marriage.’” It won’t save your peace of mind, your familial peace, your community peace, your political peace or your world peace. Neither will Chad Ford’s efforts, not in every case, and he knows that. “But,” he says, “I’ve always been of the opinion that you have to do what you can.”

Was KD your basketball idol growing up? Ace Bailey: Yeah, for sure. I watched a lot of his game. I mean, my game is his game low-key. I mean, it hit me a moment—like one of my teammates was like, “Bro, y’all just did the same move.” He did the little spin fade—not the spin fade, but the spin on the little spin jump shot creation. I came down and did the same thing. It was just like, “Bro,” I didn’t even realize. It’s crazy.

And—and I’m curious with you like, in your NBA, what are your sort of your motivations as a rookie? What do you want to accomplish this season? Ace Bailey: I mean, of course Rookie of the Year. I mean, that’s the main goal for all of us rookies is just try to win that. So that’s a big goal of mine. I mean, I want to be an All-Star, for sure. I mean, just got to keep putting in the work. Want to make defensive team—show the defense been working. Um, also just become a better teammate, be—open up to learning a lot more.

Sarah Todd: Ace Bailey, who was listed as questionable (illness), has been upgraded and will make his debut tonight when the Jazz play the Clippers
