“It’s been a tough season,” McConnell said. “But it’s hard to look past the minutes and the growth that some of the guys that, even last year, didn’t get. Especially Drew taking on a bigger role, Ben Sheppard, the young guys continuing to come in and give us a spark and get valuable minutes in the NBA. That’s a really valuable thing. It’s something we can’t look past. We’ve got to continue to honor it, and continue to build guys up when they get those opportunities.”

The Pacers have ruled out Ben Sheppard (left calf strain) for Monday’s game against Houston. TJ McConnell (right hamstring soreness) and Jay Huff (left ankle sprain) are available.

Dustin Dopirak: Rick Carlisle says Ben Sheppard is working his way back into practice but he won’t play tomorrow and is doubtful for Monday.

Scott Agness: Official injury report for Pacers-Bucks Game 1: Ben Sheppard (left great toe sprain) is probable. He sat out the final five games of the regular season. Damian Lillard (reconditioning) and Tyler Smith (left ankle sprain) are out.
