"I had this conversation with my mom this past weekend," said Green. "There's only three players there that were there when I was there (Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Payton Pritchard -- ed.). But, yeah, me and Jayson are still really close. We talk a lot --we talk a lot." They may talk a lot, but there is one thing they do NOT talk about -- Tatum's Achilles injury. "Like for me, I'm not checking and seeing how you're doing and stuff like that," explained the Pistons wing. "But I already know how sensitive that is to players that go through injuries, like a special major injury like that. So I just check in and just make sure he's well, that's it." "I'm not really into just talking about the injuries. I know how sensitive he is. And I can see that his progression is going well," he added. "So that's all that matters."

As to whether he believes Tatum should return to the court this season, Green only wants to see him back on the court healthy -- whenever that happens. "Man, I've seen him this summer," he recalled. "He said that was his goal." "His goal was to come back this season. But me being a friend, being a person to care for him, I only want the best for him. So I tell him to take his time and make sure he comes back when he's ready."
Bobby Marks: The free agent market has significantly dried up since late June. While Detroit still retains his non-bird rights, the maximum they can sign him for his $7.2M. The Pistons have signed Caris LeVert, Duncan Robinson, Javonte Green to replace Beasley and Tim Hardaway Jr. They also expect Jaden Ivey to return.

Sources indicated to DallasHoopsJournal.com that the Mavericks are surveying wing players on the trade market. Among options drawing interest from Dallas is New Orleans Pelicans forward Javonte Green, but they are far from alone in that regard.

The Pelicans continue to shut down ongoing interest in defensive stalwart Herb Jones, who's out indefinitely with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. If there's one trade candidate to monitor in New Orleans, it may be Javonte Green. The Pelicans are receiving healthy interest in the athletic forward, who makes just $2 million this season and is yet another player whose current salary is lower than the league's current veteran minimum.

Dustin Dopirak: Pelicans coach Willie Green said Javonte Green is available. Was listed questionable.
