The Dallas Mavericks announced today their participation in a six-team trade involving the Detroit Pistons, L.A. Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards. Dallas acquired forward Santi Aldama and the rights to forward Tarik Biberović from Memphis along with guard Marcus Sasser from Detroit. Dallas traded guard AJ Johnson, a top-20 protected 2030 first-round pick (via Golden State) and a 2029 second-round pick (via Houston) to Memphis. The Mavericks also sent forward Khris Middleton and a 2033 second-round pick to Washington as part of a sign-and-trade deal.
Per the NBA’s transaction wire, a lot of Pistons trades are now official. They’ve acquired John Collins, Taurean Prince and Gary Harris and traded Isaiah Stewart, Caris LeVert and Marcus Sasser.

Marc Stein: By helping Khris Middleton get to Washington via sign-and-trade, Dallas can acquire Santi Aldama and Marcus Sasser without touching its $20.3M TPE from the Anthony Davis trade or its $15M MLE. The Mavs can then formally sign Tarik Biberović after the six-team trade is official.
Yossi Gozlan: I could see the Isaiah Stewart, Isaiah Joe, John Collins, & Santi Aldama trades expand into a five-team trade between the Pistons, Grizzlies, Clippers, Mavericks, & Thunder. Pistons need to send out $20M to match for Collins & Joe. Stewart ($15M) & Marcus Sasser ($5.2M) work.
Yossi Gozlan: The Rockets will need to shed payroll if they're going to sign Marcus Smart to a three-year deal with a portion of their mid-level exception and re-sign Tari Eason while staying under the first apron hard cap. Dorian Finney-Smith has been mentioned as a potential cap casualty.

Furthermore, Pistons guard Marcus Sasser is said to be available on the trade market, according to NBA executives around the league who’ve spoken with HoopsHype. Sasser, a career 38.6 percent 3-point shooter, has a $5.20 million salary for the upcoming season and will then be eligible for restricted free agency the following year.
Detroit executive Trajan Langdon publicly expressed his desire to retain forward Tobias Harris, who was the team’s second-leading scorer in the playoffs. The Pistons will also work with Jalen Duren on a new deal amid his restricted free agency. In addition, a Reaves pursuit would require more acrobatics than Simone Biles in the Olympics. Detroit would have to pick up the $4 million team option on Daniss Jenkins, renounce cap holds on Harris, Kevin Huerter, and Malik Beasley, waive Duncan Robinson, likely trade Caris LeVert and one of Paul Reed or Marcus Sasser, and decline Tolu Smith’s $2.4 million team option to be able to offer Reaves a max contract, as outlined by salary cap expert Yossi Gozlan.
Who is the most memorable/ favorite interview you had with? Jeff Zillgitt: I've always enjoyed my interactions with Dwyane Wade. He has a great ability to provide a thoughtful/insightful answer. I wrote a story on Kyle Korver one year and he was just fantastic describing the checklist he goes through to make sure he's shooting the way he wants to shoot. Just so detailed.
