Duane Rankin: "I'll never give the refs credit for what I do." Dillon Brooks on his react to techs as he hit a 3 after he and Justin Champagnie received a tech with 4:35 left in 3rd of Suns win over Wizards. "They say I antagonize or taunt when I'm speaking to a person who the possession before pushed me in my chest, which I got a T a past game before. Then jog down, call me out my name I can't say on media cause I'll get fined like $50,000, $25,000." Brooks came into game with league-high 12 techs. "They give me a T for who I am. That's weird and that's unappreciative and this is the same ref who gets manhandled in the Laker game and doesn't give a T out. I'm not going to give any names. You can go look up who it is, but this guy needs to get looked at seriously. This is why I have a stigma with refs and this is why they're so quick to T me."

Bijan Todd: FINAL: Wizards 119, Nets 99 That's the second-fewest points Washington has allowed all season. They were led by Justin Champagnie, who dropped a season-high 20 points off the bench. WSH is 6-4 in their last 10. They've won 4 out of their last 5 for the first time since February 2023.

Tom Orsborn: Wizards coach Brian Keefe on Justin Champagnie: “He’s been terrific since he joined our program. First of all, his character as a person and as a human being, he’s one of the guys we really respect in our locker room from how he carries himself, how he approaches every day, but then with his play.”

Sharp-shooter Ethan Thompson, a standout for the Orlando Magic’s G-League team last season, accepted a training camp invitation from the Heat on Wednesday. Thompson also gives the Heat a player of Puerto Rican descent on its roster, a day after the team announced it would play a preseason game against the Magic Oct. 4 in Puerto Rico. This news comes after the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, announced Wednesday that it acquired the returning player rights to Thompson and a second-round pick in the 2025 NBA G League Draft from the Osceola Magic, in exchange for the returning player rights to forward Justin Champagnie, a first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2025 G League Draft and a second-round pick in the 2026 G League Draft.

The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced that the team has acquired the returning player rights to guard Ethan Thompson and a second-round pick in the 2025 NBA G League Draft from the Osceola Magic, in exchange for the returning player rights to forward Justin Champagnie, a first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2025 NBA G League Draft and a second-round pick in the 2026 NBA G League Draft.

While Champagnie was shuttling back and forth between the G League for much of the past three seasons, he seriously contemplated whether he’d ever stick in the NBA. “To be honest with you, I probably thought about quitting three or four times,” Champagnie explained. “I always told myself no matter what happens, stay grounded, remember where you came from, keep doing what you’re doing, and let it be what it’s going to be.”

The Washington Wizards announced today they have signed forward Justin Champagnie to a multi-year NBA contract. Champagnie, who signed a two-way contract with Washington on Mar. 3, 2024, has averaged 7.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in 55 appearances over his two seasons with the Wizards.
