Hunter Patterson: Pistons overcome a slow start to beat the Nets 110-94. Detroit is now 5-1 and 1-0 in cup play. Cade (20), Ron (18), Duncan (17), BBall (12) and Ausar (11) all scored in double figures. Ausar had a game-high six assists and no turnovers. Javonte was a game-high +20 in 22mins.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown revealed how Towns' mindset shift and sudden aggressiveness allowed them to dominate the Detroit Pistons in their 111-97 win. "KAT is a grown man and obviously a perennial All-Star. I just told him the truth. [Paul Reed] was killing us on the glass, and when he got a rebound, he was putting it back. Anything he got in the paint, he was putting it back. If he caught the ball on the perimeter, he needed to guard him, and he did those things," Brown told reporters. "I have to take my hat off to KAT because I thought his shift in mindset was really big for us in the second half."

Omari Sankofa II: JB Bickerstaff on Paul Reed: “Offensively I think he’s taken huge steps. His ability to finish around the rim in so many different ways … you watch his workouts and he’s working on things he plans on applying to the game.” Said he’s never been around a player who works harder.

Omari Sankofa II: No Cade Cunningham or Jalen Duren tonight against the Wizards. Daniss Jenkins and Paul Reed will start

Jake Fischer: In Pistons center news, sources say Detroit has fully guaranteed Paul Reed’s $5.6 million salary for this upcoming 2026-27 season.

League sources say Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart is available. The Pistons, in search of additional shooting and playmakers, appear ready to rely on seventh-year big man Paul Reed in an increased role. Stewart has two years and a combined $30 million left on his deal (team option in the second season). Detroit, which is believed to be among the suitors for Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves if he makes it to unrestricted free agency, is also said to be interested in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Isaiah Joe.

Detroit executive Trajan Langdon publicly expressed his desire to retain forward Tobias Harris, who was the team’s second-leading scorer in the playoffs. The Pistons will also work with Jalen Duren on a new deal amid his restricted free agency. In addition, a Reaves pursuit would require more acrobatics than Simone Biles in the Olympics. Detroit would have to pick up the $4 million team option on Daniss Jenkins, renounce cap holds on Harris, Kevin Huerter, and Malik Beasley, waive Duncan Robinson, likely trade Caris LeVert and one of Paul Reed or Marcus Sasser, and decline Tolu Smith’s $2.4 million team option to be able to offer Reaves a max contract, as outlined by salary cap expert Yossi Gozlan.

Omari Sanokfa II: Langdon on Paul Reed: "Consummate professional. In and out of the lineup this season and it didn’t matter if his number was called." "He’s a better player now than when we got him off waivers two years ago."

Hunter Patterson: J.B. on whether Jalen Duren got rolling in Game 6 because Stew and Reed played early: “I’m not sure if it was the timing of those guys’ minutes. We were able to find more space for him to operate. … I think he found something that he liked and that he can replicate.”

Omari Sankofa II: JB Bickerstaff on Paul Reed: “At that moment, what we needed is what P Reed provides and he provides that spark, that instant impact to make plays.” On going with Jalen Duren late: “I think JD’s done a great job for us all year long. Reed obviously provides a spark for us. We went back with JD.”

While others bend and break, Detroit bends and somehow strengthens. It’s a quality that has carried the Pistons to 60 wins and the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. One that limited Orlando to 1-of-20 shooting in the fourth quarter. And one Detroit believes will continue carrying it as far as possible. “I have a philosophy I like to say,” Paul Reed told The Athletic over the blaring locker room speaker after the Pistons’ 93-79 Game 6 win. “Pressure either bursts pipe or makes diamonds. Tonight, we came out there and did what we had to do to go get the W and handled business.”
