You talked after Game 3 about how you wouldn’t be in the NBA, sitting at the postgame podium, if you didn’t hold yourself to that standard. Is this a destination that, when the trade happened last summer, you saw yourself fitting in because of that symmetry? Alex Caruso: Yeah, for sure. I knew the stars aligned on that level just because of the people I knew in the organization still that were here, and just interacting with Sam. I’ve told a story about him multiple times where he came on a trip with the G League team to Sioux Falls, S.D. We had two games in four days in Sioux Falls, and he came down for the first game and then stayed the night and just did a Q&A with all the guys on the G League team, an open forum to ask him whatever you wanted. Knowing what I know now, that’s very uncommon. So I knew the type of people running the organization were still here from when I was here the first time. I just knew what they stood for. And then obviously, watching the team play, seeing how hard they play and how much success they had the year before, I knew that it was going to be a great fit for me X’s and O’s-wise on the court, and I would kind of seamlessly fall in line.

On the other side of that matchup, meanwhile, league sources say Sioux Falls forward Nassir Little has drawn significant attention from NBA teams after his strong performances both in Orlando and throughout this early season.

Shams Charania: The Miami Heat are converting two-way forward Keshad Johnson on a standard two-year NBA contract, sources told ESPN. Johnson has spent the season as a standout player for Heat's G League affiliate, Sioux Falls, averaging 21.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Knicks rookie guard Tyler Kolek was named the MVP of the G-League Showcase after leading Westchester to the title over Sioux Falls with 22 points and 11 assists Sunday night in Orlando, Fla. Kolek, who has appeared in 18 games for the Knicks this season, and fellow rookies Pacome Dadiet and Ariel Hukporti were recalled before Monday’s game against the Raptors. “I like the fact that [Kolek] did it within a team concept, that he came into the game and he made some 3s, but his playmaking was terrific, as well,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said of Kolek, a second-round pick out of Marquette. “I think it’s great, a great accomplishment. … For the guys that are up and down, that’s not easy. Tyler played a great game, but they played as a team, and it’s a terrific accomplishment. So we’re really proud of them.”

When an Iowa player got hit in the mouth during a game against Sioux Falls, Wall spent a minute or so telling a story about what it was like to go straight to the dentist from a game after a similar hit. He said he enjoyed the opportunity. “I was here last year working out for a couple teams,” Wall said. “I was on the other court, working out before games. That was fun. This was fun.”

To a degree, Christopher said there was an epiphany last season when he first traveled to Sioux Falls for a Skyforce game. “I honestly loved it, honestly,” he said. “When I played with the Utah Jazz before that, I was with the G League team. We went out there, and I had never been to South Dakota. And something had me really excited to be in South Dakota. I had eight threes. That’s also the game Man Man (Williams) had 55. He was balling. “But during that game, too, I ended up talking to a lot of the players on Sioux Falls, just randomly, just over the course of the game, just real good energy, for some reason. And then a couple of days later, I was in Sioux Falls. So I appreciated the time just like of almost isolation and just grind and being with the team and just being in a different place, I appreciated it.”

Michael Scotto: The Miami Heat have agreed to an Exhibit-10 deal with Bryson Warren, league sources told @hoopshype. Warren played for Sioux Falls in the G League last season.
