“The impact that Wayne Embry has made in his lifetime goes so far beyond Miami University and the game of basketball at all levels. It is impossible to put into words the true scope of his influence and the ground he paved for so many,” said Miami University Director of Athletics David Sayler. “To be able to honor him with a statue that will be a permanent tribute means so much to our basketball program, athletic department and university. I want to sincerely thank Randy Ayers and Jayne Whitehead for spearheading the efforts with the donors to make this project a reality.”
The Phoenix Suns today announced Head Coach Monty Williams’ coaching staff, naming Willie Green, Darko Rajakovic, Mark Bryant, Randy Ayers, Larry Greer and Steve Blake as assistant coaches, and Riccardo Fois and Ben Strong as player development coaches.

Smith did admit fault bringing Robinson up at the recent Sirius XM Town Hall Meeting. "I don't hold anything against (Robinson) for what he said on TMZ." Smith said. "I deserved that because I never should have said his name out of my mouth. He's retired. He's been gone. Nobody's been thinking about him. I should not have answered that question. That's on me. "But just like that's on me, the facts are for me. ... The level of disrespect he showed towards Randy Ayers was so egregious, so unnecessary, so bush league that every single criticism I gave him at that time, he deserved that. And I maintain that more than a decade later. I stand by every single damn word that I said."
It also leads to cronyism in hiring. Loyalty is paramount. Few people hired in recent years don't have a connection to Billy King. The two most recent hires, Rob Bender and Randy Ayers, both worked with King. Bender was an assistant coach at Duke when King was a player!
Nazr Mohammed: In this case, I had been sitting out about 15 games. I tried to make the best of it so I came early and got an intense workout before the game. I typically played Coach Mo Cheeks in a little one-on-one from the top of the key to keep my tools sharp! (I'm from Chicago so I had to keep my handle tight lol). We had just finished playing – and I was dripping sweat from head to toe – I get to the locker room when Coach Randy Ayers tells me that Coach (Larry Brown) wants to talk to me. Whenever the Head Coach or GM wants to talk to you, your mind starts wandering and thinking the worst…Am I traded? Am I cut? What’s going on?

Hornets coach Monty Williams and point guard Eric Gordon got into a screaming match during a timeout with 8:37 left in the third quarter. Millsap had just scored on a putback to put Utah ahead 55-47 and New Orleans called a timeout. Williams was visibly agitated, yelling in Gordon's direction. He had to be held back by assistant coach Randy Ayers after Gordon hollered back at him, and when the team went to the sidelines, Williams continued screaming at Gordon.
New Orleans Hornets coach Monty Williams says current assistant Randy Ayers will be his lead assistant next season. Ayers fills a void created by Mike Malone's decision last week to join the staff of new Golden State coach Mark Jackson.
New Orleans Hornets Coach Monty Williams will promote assistant coach Randy Ayers to lead assistant, filling the position left by Mike Malone. Ayers served as an assistant on Williams's staff this past season. Ayers has also served as the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2003-04 season. "It's an easy move for us because he's been a head coach and a lead assistant," Williams said Monday at his youth camp. "But losing Mike is a tough blow for us because he meant so much to our program."
