The Milwaukee Bucks did find a point guard in Thursday night's draft. It just took a second-round trade to make it happen. South Dakota State's Nate Wolters is expected to be acquired by the Bucks when the trade becomes official, according to a source. Milwaukee took Providence's Ricky Ledo with the 43rd pick.
After taking Georgetown star Otto Porter with the third overall pick on Thursday, the Wizards decided to package their two second picks to acquire Glen Rice Jr. from the Philadelphia 76ers, according to multiple league sources with knowledge of the situation. The 76ers originally chose Rice, the son of the three-time NBA all-star, with the 35th pick. In return, the Wizards sent South Dakota State point guard Nate Wolters (the 38th pick) and Oregon power forward Arsalan Kazemi (54th) to Philadelphia.
Two high-scoring collegiate guards will work out for the Bucks in Monday's session at the Cousins Center. South Dakota State senior Nate Wolters and Virginia Tech senior Erick Green highlight the workout. Both are considered to be late first-round or early second-round selections in the June 27 draft.
The Nuggets also worked out Colorado State C Colton Iverson and South Dakota State G Nate Wolters in a morning session Monday.
Also expected to work out Monday are Patriot League player of the year Mike Muscala of Bucknell and Summit League player of the year Nate Wolters of South Dakota State. They are scheduled to be joined by Mississippi forward Reggie Buckner, North Carolina swingman Reggie Bullock, Saint Mary’s guard Matt Dellavedova, Wake Forest guard C.J. Harris, Gonzaga forward Elias Harris, Providence guard Ricky Ledo, North Texas forward Tony Mitchell and Kansas center Jeff Withey.
