Dalton Johnson: Steve Kerr says Mike Dunleavy called him today to brief him on some things he’s working on behind the scenes Some big fish are being moved right, but the biggest one remains out there

NBACentral: Steve Kerr says Draymond Green deserves a statue "[Draymond and I] have talked [about the trade rumors]. I think what's really tricky for Draymond is this is the only place he's ever known. He's going to have a statue outside the building someday." (Via @957thegame )

The Golden State Warriors have involved Draymond Green in active trade conversation in advance of Thursday's deadline, league sources told ESPN, putting his 14-season run with the franchise in jeopardy.
General manager Mike Dunleavy and controlling owner Joe Lacob have maintained a motivation to get a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo across the finish line and, as part of that, Green's name has been involved in the framework of available offers to the Milwaukee Bucks, league sources said.

Draymond Green: I know everyone is looking for a response to Dillon Brooks’ comments about podcast. He was speaking on me and Paul George doing podcasting. He said they're not good at basketball, so focus on hoops. I don't really feel the need to get in back and forth. If I was Dillon Brooks I wouldn't have too much love for this podcast either, being how he was annihilated on this podcast, possibly aided in him being traded away from the Memphis Grizzlies where he ultimately said he really enjoyed playing there. So I get it. I completely get it. And yeah he said we talk too much on our podcast, but he's been kind of going on other people's streams and just like talking too much, if you will. I found it funny. I thought it was cute like those guys talk too much on those podcast. There are some people that you can go talk to that about. You say they're not good at basketball. When I started this podcast, what made guys really comfortable with having these podcast was because I was an All-Star and an NBA champion in the same year. We heard that that noise before.

On Monday, the four-time champion took to Threads to blast a report suggesting he was arranging his departure from the Bay Area. It was alleged that Green was willing to be traded to the Milwaukee Bucks with a special caveat. “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣who’s the source?” Green replied to a post detailing the trade report.
Then there's the premise of Green's age (35), particular play type and strong personality. I found it noteworthy that various league figures with knowledge of the situation pointed to how the Phoenix Suns, who sources say are still actively looking for frontcourt additions, would have been an ideal potential trade partner … at least until Dillon Brooks arrived in the desert via the Suns' deal last June that sent Durant to Houston and established himself as The Valley's new cultural heartbeat.

Draymond Green on Dillon Brooks: What made guys really comfortable with having these podcasts was because I was an All-Star and a world champion, NBA champion in the same year… Say Draymond name I get a little more attention. That’s cute. Unfortunate that he wasn’t able to make his first All-Star game.

Another Antetokounmpo development that has emerged over the past 24 hours: We've heard further strong indications that the Warriors' pursuit of Antetokounmpo is unlikely to involve Jimmy Butler's contract after Butler sustained a season-ending knee tear on Jan. 19. So what does that mean for lifelong Warrior Draymond Green? It has long been assumed that a credible Golden State offer would have to include Green or Butler for salary-matching purposes.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green took umbrage with the technical foul he picked up from an official during Friday’s game against the Detroit Pistons, arguing with veteran official J.T. Orr throughout the first half. “I find it very ironic that I got a technical foul for telling a Caucasian referee not to put his hand in my face,” Green said of an interaction with Orr. “As a Black man in America, don’t put your hand in my face. And I said, ‘Hey, don’t put your hand in my face.’ And I got a tech. “So I thought that was the most interesting thing of the night. Next to my bobblehead.”

“He said, ‘Draymond, this is your chance to stop talking to me!’ (I responded) ‘Bro, don’t put your hand in my face,’ ” Green said. “ ’Oh, tech.’ Oh, so everybody want to talk about holding the line of respect. That line need to be held both ways. “So if the line won’t be held both ways, then the line won’t be held from my way either, because we’re all men and we all can make decisions and choices. So let that be the last time that that happens.”

Draymond Green has taken notice of Cade Cunningham’s development and spoke on it with an earnest sense of pride. “Initially the scouting report would be, ‘Throw two guys at him. He doesn’t want to pass the ball.'” Green said of Cunningham. “And today the scouting report was more about how much he’s looking to lob and get other guys involved. To watch someone take that next step and continue to build and grow, I respect that a lot.” If anyone is qualified to discuss the nuances that elevate an offensive player to the next level of their game, it’s the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year and anchor of Golden State’s defense. Cunningham dropped a game-high 29 points on 57.9/50/83.3 shooting splits, 11 assists, four rebounds and just three turnovers in their win over the Warriors.
