This was his chance, it might not be another two years…We was all rooting for him.”

Chris Haynes: CJ McCollum to me on trade to Atlanta: “Loved my time in DC. Organization was great to my family and I. Michael Winger and Will [Dawkins] did everything they said they would and kept their word from the very beginning. Love the city and they’re doing things the right way over there. Exited to get to The A and get to work. Very familiar with their style of play. Love the ownership group and front office. Good group of players.”

D.C. sports fans may not have known the name Walter Wiggins Jr., but chances are they knew who he was. Wiggins, a D.C. native who died at 72 on May 10, was a fixture in the crowd at Washington Wizards and Commanders games, among other local professional and high school sporting events, where he danced and pumped his arms in support of his teams. To many, he was known simply as the “Pump It Up Man.”

What are your plans for the next couple of months with regard to preparing for next season? Bilal Coulibaly: I’m working on my game a lot. I’ll focus on my handle and my three-point shooting so I can come back and feel way smoother and more comfortable on the court. I’ll be in DC, I’ll be probably in Dallas for a little bit too because my agency is based there, so I’ll be working out with them. I’ll be in France too so anywhere I go I’ll be working on my game.

She’s ready to act if Silver gives it the green light—but knows she needs to be careful not to overpromise, lest she underdeliver. “[My dad] said to somebody, ‘You know, I make no promises,’” Holloway tells Front Office Sports about reviving the Sonics. “And I feel like I certainly wouldn’t promise. There are so many unknowns, and I mean, first of all, it’s a privilege to even be considered. We’re waiting for the NBA and expansion may be on its radar, and it may not be.”
