According to some of those NBA folks, the names that have been attached to the Lakers as potential trade targets are Dallas’ Naji Marshall, a former Doncic teammate, Cleveland’s De’Andre Hunter, Minnesota’s Donte DiVincenzo and Sacramento’s Keon Ellis. New Orleans’ Troy Murphy III and Herbert Jones are two players the Lakers have shown some interest in — as have many other teams — but NBA people say the asking price is so high that teams are waiting to see if that comes down by the deadline next week.
The Mavericks will have to waive a player to make room for Fisher. That could mean Troy Murphy, whose contract is not fully guaranteed, could be the odd man out, although no Maverick personnel would address the situation after Wednesday’s game.
It will be two steps forward and one step back for the Los Angeles Lakers' beleaguered bench on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Forwards Josh McRoberts and Troy Murphy will be back in the lineup at the same time Steve Blake is being placed on the inactive list with a costochondral fracture, which is a fracture of the cartilage connecting the rib to the sternum. "That thing is at a point to where even if he makes a hard move, it can hurt him or bother him," Lakers coach Mike Brown said of Blake's condition.
Marc J. Spears: The Celtics will announce the signing of Troy Murphy tomorrow after he clears waivers. BOS attracted to his outside shooting and rebounding.

Contrary to what New Jersey Nets general manager Billy King said in an interview with WFAN on Monday, power forward Troy Murphy will not be rejoining the team. Head coach Avery Johnson made the announcement before Wednesday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. "Billy said we're just going to stay along the same path," Johnson said. "[Murphy] will not be rejoining our team."
There would be unquestioned interest in Murphy if he went the buyout route and became a free agent -- starting with Orlando, Dallas and San Antonio -- but the Nets are hoping to swap him for a similar expiring contract before the Feb. 24 trade deadline. And Murphy naturally wants to land with a contender to end his run as the guy who has appeared in more games than any other active player (639) without tasting the playoffs.
King says he and Murphy had reached a mutual agreement to try to find the 30-year-old Jersey native a new home -- preferably with a playoff contender -- if the Melo deal fell through and Murphy’s $12 million expiring contract was not needed to clinch the Pistons’ participation in the trade. “I probably worded it a little bit too harshly,” King said.

What if I told you the Nets are no longer trying to exchange Troy Murphy's $11.986 million expiring contract on the Pistons (for Rip Hamilton), the third team in the public, months-long ogled threesome? What if the 6-10 offshore driller gets traded soon to the Cavaliers or the Knicks or some other team . . . other than the Nuggets? Would that persuade you Prokhorov says what he means and means what he says?
The sources said the Nets' latest offer for Anthony is Favors, Troy Murphy, Kris Humphries and two No. 1 picks. The sources also said they expect the talks to pick up.
The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have acquired Trevor Ariza from the Houston Rockets in a trade that sends James Posey and Darren Collison to Indiana, Courtney Lee from New Jersey to Houston, and Troy Murphy from Indiana to New Jersey.
