DaRon Holmes II won’t have any injury-related limitations on his minutes when he returns from a torn right Achilles tendon this week, Nuggets Summer League coach Andrew Munson said. Holmes is Denver’s most anticipated aspect of the Summer League squad. He was drafted 22nd overall last year with a pick that cost the Nuggets three future second-rounders. His combination of size, defensive versatility and perimeter shooting was too tantalizing for former general manager Calvin Booth to resist.
Bennett Durando: Any limitations on DaRon Holmes in Vegas? Nuggets SL coach Andrew Munson: “He’s had pretty solid build-up to this point. He’s played with our guys most of the summer. He’s not gonna play 40 minutes, and we don’t have any B2Bs to worry about. But he should be pretty much full-go.”
Katy Winge: A few clips from the DaRon Holmes media availability today: Says he’s 100% health. He does say he still thinks about the injury, but he’s excited to get back out there. “Onward and upward”

On April 27, Milwaukee guard Damian Lillard suffered a torn left Achilles tendon in a Game 4 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Lillard’s injury was the fifth NBA player on a standard contract to sustain the injury since rookie DaRon Holmes II went down in Summer League on July 12, 2024. Unfortunately, another name was added to the list as Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum tore his right Achilles late in Monday’s Game 4 loss to the Knicks. The six Achilles tendon tears suffered this season marks a new high for the devastating injury, passing the previous record of five set during the 2014-2015 season. Even worse, this lofty total doesn’t include the torn Achilles of Miami two-way guard Dru Smith or unrestricted free agent Thanasis Antetokounmpo who was injured in the offseason.
Vinny Benedetto: Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. is probable for Tuesday's Game 5 with the left shoulder sprain. Russell Westbrook is again listed as questionable with left foot inflammation. DaRon Holmes II is Denver's only other player listed.
Vinny Benedetto: Michael Porter Jr. is listed as questionable for Game 3 with a left shoulder sprain. DaRon Holmes II is the only other player on Denver's injury report.
Vinny Benedetto: Aaron Gordon is listed as probable for Monday's Game 2 vs. the Clippers with right calf injury management. DaRon Holmes II is the only other player on Denver's injury report.

And the Nuggets' recent draft record, to their credit, has been strong. Booth is known around the league as one of the more dogged top executives on the scouting trail. "He's always in the gym," said one Denver ally. "He might leave the owner's box after any game and fly right to some college tournament." Over dinners and drinks with staffers, Booth is always talking basketball. And he's been so confident in his preferred players, it's been somewhat easy to telegraph Denver's draft choices over the years, whether the Nuggets outright promised certain draftees or openly told agents representing other players that their client wouldn't be in consideration because the Nuggets had already zeroed on their target, be it Julian Strawther or DaRon Holmes.
Vinny Benedetto: Jamal Murray is doubtful for tomorrow’s game against Memphis. DaRon Holmes II is the only other player on Denver’s injury report.
Vinny Benedetto: Because basketball never stops - Jamal Murray is doubtful for tomorrow's game in Sacramento with right hamstring inflammation. DaRon Holmes II is the only other player on Denver's injury report. Malik Monk and Jake LaRavia are out for the Kings. Keegan Murray is questionable.
