Michael Scotto: The Denver Nuggets declined their rookie scale team option on DaRon Holmes worth $5.55 million for the 2027-28 season, league sources told @hoopshype. Holmes was the 22nd pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. Holmes will become an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
Michael Scotto: Seven players had rookie team options declined for the 2027-28 season, making them unrestricted free agents in 2027: Tidjane Salaun (Hornets), Nikola Topic (Thunder), Isaiah Collier (Jazz), DaRon Holmes (Nuggets), Cody Williams (Wolves), Pacome Dadiet (Knicks), AJ Johnson (Pelicans).
Q. Guarding Valanciunas in practice, what did you learn from him? DaRon Holmes: Man, everything. He's such a great vet. Him, Jokic, he would always push me to do extra. Get in the weight room even more, do this extra, be tough, like all those things. And it really helped me to where I am now. So, I'm very grateful for Val. Q. What do you want to improve in your sophomore season? Holmes: I would say now it's more about, I think I know more of the plays and I'm a lot more comfortable with them now. It's just learning the tendencies of my teammates a little bit better. So, understanding what Jamal likes, what Jokic likes, where he likes to pass the ball.
Vinny Benedetto: Peyton Watson is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Portland. G League assignments DaRon Holmes II, Curtis Jones and KJ Simpson are the only others listed on Denver’s injury report.

Bennett Durando: David Adelman says part of the DaRon Holmes call-up is that "guys who are down there, we have to get them back with us and then send them back. ... If you leave guys down there too long, I think it's unfair to them as a professional player. So we'll do the best we can to rotate them through"
Vinny Benedetto: Julian Strawther is out for tomorrow's game in New Orleans with low back pain. Nikola Jokic and Cam Johnson are no longer on the injury report. Christian Braun, DaRon Holmes II, Curtis Jones and Tamar Bates remain out.
Bennett Durando: Nuggets are planning to send 2024 first-round pick DaRon Holmes II down to Grand Rapids to develop in the G League throughout this season, he tells @DenverPost . Team doesn't want to rush him. Holmes missed last season with a torn Achilles.
Katy Winge: The Denver Nuggets are exercising next year’s options for both Julian Strawther and DaRon Holmes. Third-year option for Holmes, fourth-year option for Strawther.

DaRon Holmes II won’t have any injury-related limitations on his minutes when he returns from a torn right Achilles tendon this week, Nuggets Summer League coach Andrew Munson said. Holmes is Denver’s most anticipated aspect of the Summer League squad. He was drafted 22nd overall last year with a pick that cost the Nuggets three future second-rounders. His combination of size, defensive versatility and perimeter shooting was too tantalizing for former general manager Calvin Booth to resist.
Bennett Durando: Any limitations on DaRon Holmes in Vegas? Nuggets SL coach Andrew Munson: “He’s had pretty solid build-up to this point. He’s played with our guys most of the summer. He’s not gonna play 40 minutes, and we don’t have any B2Bs to worry about. But he should be pretty much full-go.”
Katy Winge: A few clips from the DaRon Holmes media availability today: Says he’s 100% health. He does say he still thinks about the injury, but he’s excited to get back out there. “Onward and upward”
