Michael Scotto: Seven players had rookie team options declined for the 2027-28 season, making them unrestricted free agents in 2027: Tidjane Salaun (Hornets), Nikola Topic (Thunder), Isaiah Collier (Jazz), DaRon Holmes (Nuggets), Cody Williams (Wolves), Pacome Dadiet (Knicks), AJ Johnson (Pelicans).

The Hornets want to keep veteran swingman Connaughton just like the Mavericks want to keep Powell. But the young Hornet who appears to be in the most serious jeopardy if Charlotte does retain Connaughton is recent No. 6 overall pick Tidjane Salaun. The 6-foot-10 forward is just 21 and I've heard from more than a few folks that the first draft pick of the Jeff Peterson Era in Charlotte has taken some real strides this summer. Yet it's also true that Salaun realistically projects to be a rotation player at best at this stage after the Hornets once believed he had a star-level ceiling. And Connaughton is known to be a Kon Knueppel favorite who brings undeniable locker room value to Charlotte's team.

Sam Perley: Tidjane Salaün on Hornets' preseason so far: "The team is getting better since training camp. Good chemistry is coming for the season... the group is a pretty good group with a lot of character and some good vets [who] are helping us be the best [we can be]."

NBA Trade Machine: Nikola Jokic appeared in 3.7% of trades built on HoopsMatic over the past 24 hours. Of his trades, his most common destinations were Charlotte (20.3%), Detroit (12.5%), and Utah (10.9%). The players traded for him most often were Tidjane Salaun (20.3%), Kon Knueppel (20.3%), and Brandon Miller (20.3%).

Charlotte Hornets: The Charlotte Hornets have added Grant Williams (right knee injury management) to their injury report; he's out tonight. Tidjane Salaun could make his first start since last April.

Rod Boone: Kon Knueppel (right hip contusion), Tidjane Salaun (left ankle sprain) and Moussa Diabate are questionable for tomorrow's game against Oklahoma City. Ryan Kalkbrenner remains out. Brandon Miller (left knee contusion) is probable.

Rod Boone: LaMelo Ball, Tre Mann and Collin Sexton are out for tomorrow's game in Cleveland. Tidjane Salaun (left hip soreness) is questionable.

Rod Boone: #Hornets are assigning Tidjane Salaün to Greensboro in advance of team's two-game road trip.

Instead, the 19-year-old can’t get enough of the offseason regime cooked up for him by the Hornets’ performance staff, which has him effectively serving as a gym-rat with a strict focus on one thing: basketball. “That’s something normal for me,” Salaün said. “I’ve done this now for the last three years — I did only work for the summer and that’s something I like. There’s no regrets. Just sacrifice some cool stuff for a better future I can say. “So, yeah, I’m just proud of myself to have this mentality to continue to work, because that is going to help me be better for the next season.”

Rozier, who is in a walking boot and on crutches, was one of only four players in the NBA who shot worse than 40 percent from the field and worse than 30 percent on threes while playing in at least 60 games this regular season. That list also includes Charlotte Hornets forward Tidjane Salaun, Philadelphia 76ers guard Ricky Council IV and Orlando Magic guard Jett Howard. “I have the utmost respect for Terry,” Heat captain and three-time All-Star center Bam Adebayo said. “He could have let go of the rope, like a lot of guys have done in this league. They let go of the rope because they’re out of the rotation or whatever the case may be. For him to keep fighting, keep having perseverance and just keep stacking days of just trying to get better, you respect that in somebody.”
