• Dowtin on where he believes he has improved as a player since the team held its training camp in The Bahamas at the beginning of October: "I think all aspects of my game, you can kind of see [improvement], from being a leader, being a point guard, being able to find guys, being able to move the ball, being able to play in transition, being able to knock down open threes, catch-and-shoot threes, threes off the dribble, being able to get to the paint, finish around the rim, being a vocal in the defensive end. Just everything, all-around aspects of my game I think have improved. I think I've shown that a lot throughout this year."

James Harden: For example, I randomly met Mike Rubin in the Bahamas at a blackjack table. He was playing cards, and I was watching—I like to gamble a little bit too. Normally, I don’t like people looking over my shoulder when I’m gambling, but I was doing it to him. He kept looking back, and then he said, ‘Nice to meet you. I’m Mike Rubin, one of the owners of the Sixers.’ I said, ‘Oh, nice to meet you.’ I think he was there for his daughter’s birthday or something. Anyway, he ended up leaving, but we locked in from there. Since then, any time I’ve had an opportunity or a question, I’ve reached out to him. I haven’t gotten to that same level with Steve Ballmer yet, but my focus is to pick his brain and understand his mindset. Guys like that are courteous, and they want to give you information. A lot of people don’t get that opportunity, so I feel like I have to take advantage of it.
“I respect that he’s willing to do it — to bet on himself, to bet on development at this point,” Spoelstra said of Little, with the Heat in the Bahamas through Saturday for training camp at Baha Mar. “Because when you’re a former first-round pick, you probably do have some opportunities if you’re patient to explore. He wanted to invest in development that will be longer lasting. And there are no guarantees. That’s just where we are with our roster right now, but we are in full open arms to give him everything we have to develop him and help him reach another level. So it’s exciting for both parties.”
Ira Winderman: The expectation is that Butler will participate in Tuesday's opening training-camp practice at the Baha Mar resort in the Bahamas. Eligible for a contract extension since early July, Butler remains somewhat in contract limbo, with Heat President Pat Riley, in his season-closing remarks in May, noting that the Heat have through the end of this coming June to decide on an extension. Butler holds a player option for 2025-26 on a contract that pays him $48.8 million this coming season.
