Tim Bontemps: Final: Sixers 102, Celtics 100 A chaotic game ends with a chaotic play: a loose ball corralled by Derrick White and heaved up from about 40 feet, only for Neemias Queta to miss a potential game-tying tip. Justin Edwards led Philly with 22, while Jaylen Brown had 24 for Boston.

Keith Pompey: Sixers’ Paul George (left knee surgery recovery), Jared McCain (right thumb surgery recovery) and Trenton Watford (left hamstring tightness) are out for tomorrow’s game vs. the Charlotte Hornets. Justin Edwards (right rib soreness) is probable.

Speaking on the latest episode of PHLY Sports, Nurse emphasized the importance of veteran leadership during a transitional period for the franchise. With rookie VJ Edgecombe and second-year forward Justin Edwards in the fold, Nurse is urging established players — particularly George — to take a proactive role in guiding their development. “Let’s start with the vets. First of all, I think that they are here, especially with so many young guys, in a capacity to teach, right?” Nurse said. “They need to teach these guys how to be pros, kind of some ins and outs of the league. I sat down with Paul George for a long time the other day and I was like listen, you are a great like defensive player and there's a lot of tricks, anticipation things, like you need to teach these guys this like quick. Teach them how to, you know, the cheat codes or whatever they are to get them up to speed quicker.”

Adam Aaronson: Justin Edwards says he has a lot more confidence now than he did at this point last year after his year of NBA reps. He knows his role and it does a lot for him. He changed his number from #19 to #11. No personal story, just a preference.

You've gone very quickly from like a young guy to a vet in this league. And in a lot of ways, you're kind of the face of the franchise. Like as if felt really quick to you and kind of, do you kind of embrace that responsibility? Tyrese Maxey: I definitely have embraced it for sure. But I was telling somebody that the other day, man, I was like, ‘dude, I don't know what happened, but I could have sworn just a couple, maybe two years ago, I was like the youngest guy in rotation.' Now it's like, I got the phone, I called Justin Edwards and he's like, the first thing he said was like, ‘what's up, Unc?' And I was like, ‘Yooo! No, we're not doing that, dude.' But I've embraced it.

Tony Jones: VJ Edgecombe, Justin Edwards and Adem Bona are all out for the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, according to sources This is simply because the Sixers are playing the second half of a back to back. It isn’t anything injury related.

Michael Scotto: Update: The Philadelphia 76ers have a third-year team option on the three-year, $7 million deal with Justin Edwards, league sources told @hoopshype . Edwards was a bright spot for the Sixers last season, averaging 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 44 games (26 starts).

Justin Edwards: “One of my goals is to try and get two offensive rebounds a game,” he said. “I do that, and that’s more opportunities for our team. Being a vocal guy, playing defense, and all that; just trying to be the leader on the court, so everybody else will follow after me.”

Keith Smith: The Philadelphia 76ers have tendered a qualifying offer to Justin Edwards. Edwards will now be a restricted free agent on July 1. This was a procedural move, as Edwards and the Sixers have reportedly agreed to a new three-year contract already.
