Trae Young: Remember what happened the last time the Mayor of that City had my name in his mouth during a time like this… . #DontBlameMeWhenItHappensAgain

Chase Hughes: Trae Young on Anthony Davis: “I’ve never played with a player as talented or as special as A.D. is… Having someone who can demand a double-team like that is honestly a first that I’ve had since I’ve played in the NBA... [That] is going to unlock everybody’s game, even mine.“
Andrew Lopez: Jeremiah Fears finished with 36 points tonight. His last 3 games - 40, 36 and 36. He’s the first teenager in NBA history to have three consecutive 35+ point games. Only other rookies to do it in last 30 seasons are Allen Iverson and Trae Young.

Andrew Lopez: Jeremiah Fears finishes with 40 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds in 156-137 win for Pelicans over Jazz. Only rookies in the last 10 seasons with 40-5-5 in a game are Cooper Flagg, Victor Wembanyama, Trae Young and Anthony Edwards.

Marc J. Spears: Wizards say Trae Young re-injured his right quadriceps, sustaining a contusion against Golden State on March 16. Related imaging, due to ongoing back pain, confirmed lower back irritation. Both injuries are being treated conservatively and will not require surgery at this time.

Washington Wizards star Trae Young left their 125-117 loss to the Golden State Warriors early on Monday night due to a leg injury. Young collided with Warriors guard Will Richard while trying to get through a screen midway through the third quarter at Capital One Arena, and was called for an offensive foul after knocking Richard down. Young immediately started limping as officials called the foul, clearly shaken up.

Among the things to be happy about was how Young and center Alex Sarr ran the pick-and-roll and connected on a pair of lobs from Young that ended with Sarr baskets. In just his third game with the Wizards, on a minutes restriction of approximately 21 minutes, Young finished with 15 points and six assists. Sarr had 16 points and five blocks, also with a minutes restriction. “I’m definitely getting used to playing with him, seeing pick-and-roll angles,” Sarr said. “We’re just working, getting extra reps right now. That’s very valuable.” Still, the stretch run late in the fourth quarter is what made Washington’s players optimistic, providing a Band-Aid to what happened in Miami. “People can laugh about us now,” Young said. “In the future, I don’t think people are going to be laughing about us.”

The Adebayo game left the Wizards embarrassed and angry. “It’s not something you want to be a part of and things like that, but you see everybody’s reaction and how he got it,” Young said. “We were all thinking the same way, how it was kind of weird, them fouling (with less than) two minutes (left) just to give him more possessions. It was a weird thing. It wasn’t very Erik Spoelstra-like. He’s an unbelievable coach and has done some great things. “(Bam) scored a lot of points. You’ve got to give him credit. But the way it happened and the way it went down, you see the reaction from people around the league. Around everybody, it’s kind of the same. So we had a similar mindset, but at the same time, we allowed it to happen in the first half and gave him a rhythm to even have the confidence to think he was going to get that. So the way we bounced back is the way we needed to bounce back tonight. I’m just happy with the way that we did that.”

Josh Robbins: Final: Jazz 122, Wizards 112 Young: 12 pts., 2 rebs., 6 assts. Reese: 18 pts., 20 rebs., 2 assts. T. Johnson: 15 pts., 8 rebs., 2 assts. Coulibaly: 17 pts., 3 rebs., 2 assts.
