Erik Slater: Cam Johnson, D'Angelo Russell, and Day'Ron Sharpe have been ruled OUT for the Nets' season finale tomorrow vs. the Knicks. Ziaire Williams (right patella tendinopathy) and Reece Beekman (right calf soreness) are questionable.
“Yeah it’s been a crazy, crazy turn of events. For this to be my rookie year and not even halfway through the season for me to get traded is a little crazy,” said Beekman, part of the Nets’ return in the Dennis Schroder deal. “But that’s life in the league. So I just got to be able to adjust fast. Just blessed for this opportunity. New situation but got to get settled in and be ready to hoop. “Just do whatever the team needs. I’m coming in with a work-hard mentality and try to do what’s best for the team to put ourselves in a better position. I can tell they’re missing Schroder, he’s a leader, a point guard, so just try to help with that.”
Erik Slater: Newest Nets two-way Reece Beeckman describes his game: "A defensive-minded guard. I want to disrupt the game that way... And then on offense, just be a playmaker. I want to get guys involved, set shots up for other people, and then when it's my turn to be aggressive, look for my own as well." pic.x.com/Eye9QbKopb
The Nets brought back two-way guard Reece Beekman from Golden State, and waived Yongxi Cui — now out for the year with a torn ACL — to make room. “When you’re able to acquire a young guy that we’ve been studying for a while, going back to his college days, the group here has been focused on [Beekman] and bringing him in and taking a good close-up look at him,” GM Sean Marks said. “So from a defensive standpoint, we’re going to miss some of the things with Dennis leaving, and hopefully when Reece comes in here, he can pick up the slack. And he’ll have every opportunity like the rest of these guys to go out there and compete, earn minutes and be a part of this rotation, hopefully.”

The 6-foot-3 Beekman is an undrafted rookie but has outperformed Hayes in the G League. He’s averaging 18.7 points on 51.5 percent shooting for Santa Cruz, 7.3 assists (ninth in the G League), 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 steals (third in the league). “Yeah, excited to have him,” coach Jordi Fernandez said. “Defensive-minded player; I think he led his conference in steals. A point guard that will help our ball pressure, our activity on defense, playmaking, running the team. So, excited to have him. He’ll get here soon, so we’ll get to work with him soon.”

Minnesota Timberwolves PR: The @Timberwolves are hosting a draft workout today with the following prospects: Jamison Battle (Ohio State), Reece Beekman (Virginia), Adem Bona (UCLA), Ulrich Chomche (NBA Academy - Africa/Cameroon), Keshad Johnson (Arizona), Malik Willingham (Minnesota State-Mankato)
Reece Beekman: “I like guys like Derrick White. He’s pretty good. I think TJ McConnell for the Pacers, he’s a pesky guard who gets in the lane, makes plays on offense, and defense just picks it up full court. Just making it hard on the other teams’ guys. Just trying to learn different stuff from them so I can use this offseason.”
Virginia senior point guard Reece Beekman has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft, forgoing his final year of eligibility, he announced in a social media post on Wednesday morning.
