George's absence will take away some of the team's star equity within lineups. They were able to play two of their Big Three together in any lineup. Nurse's first adjustment will be to stagger Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey more aggressively. But that's easier said than done. "There are some times that saying that sounds great. Sometimes it's hard to do in a tough game when you're battling back and you're trying to get one of them off the floor," Nurse said. "But also I'm equally interested in getting some other guys that we can find a groove with some certain lineups and sets and things to keep the scoreboard moving."

But league sources have said the Sixers are willing to trade Andre Drummond, and that could create a void as the reserve center is the team’s leading rebounder. “We’ve been ducking the tax the last couple of years,” Embiid said. “So hopefully we keep the same team. I love all of the guys that are here. I think we got a shot. “I don’t know what [the front office is] going to do. But I hope that we get a chance to go out there and compete because we got a good group of guys in this locker room, and the vibes are great.”
Austin Krell: Nick Nurse said that Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid were great, but that he felt players such as Kelly Oubre and VJ Edgecombe were not as involved as he'd have liked and that bled into the rebounding woes.

The Knicks played one of their best quarters of the season, but the 76ers fought back in the fourth quarter, as New York held on to a 112-109 win in Philadelphia. Coming off a big win against the Nets, questions regarding the Knicks (coming into the game 3-9 in their last 12 games) still prevailed. And although New York was behind at halftime, a 30-13 third quarter gave the Knicks enough cushion to weather the Philadelphia comeback. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 31 points while OG Anunoby added 23 points and was clutch down the stretch. Joel Embiid, coming off his first triple-double this season, had a game-high 38 points to go along with 11 rebounds, five assists and one block.
